Die Ausstellung JAMES n’ JOSEPH zeigt mehrere Videos, textbasierte Arbeiten, Wandzeichnungen und Objekte zum Thema Edward Snowden. Die Konzeptkünstlerin Dorotea Etzler war im Zuge der Veröffentlichung von Laura Poitras’ und Glenn Greenwalds Film ‘PRISM Whistleblower’ auf der Webseite des ‘The Guardian’ sogleich fasziniert und verfolgte seitdem aufmerksam die Berichterstattungen zum Thema.
Das Ergebnis der intensiven, künstlerischen Forschung sind ein Dutzend medienreflexiver Arbeiten. JAMES n’ JOSEPH ist über Informationen und Dekonstruktion, über Sammeln und Sortieren, über
Glitch Art und Geografie, über Popkultur und .Bezeichnungen/Labels. Zusammen mit JAMES n’ JOSEPH führt Sie die Künstlerin zu revolutionären Punk-Stücken der 8oer und zu bekannten Spionageromanen aus den 50ern.
Media Installations on the Case of E. Snowden
The show JAMES n’ JOSEPH will present several videos, text based works, wall paintings and objects that focus on the topic of Edward Snowden.
When Laura Poitras’ and Glenn Greenwald’s film ‘PRISM Whistleblower’ was published on the website of ‘The Guardian’ conceptual artist Dorotea Etzler began to closely follow the media coverage of the case. The result of this intensive artistic research are a dozen pieces that are arranged in this media reflexive exhibition.
JAMES n’ JOSEPH is about information and deconstruction, about collecting and sorting, about glitch art and geography, about pop culture and labelling. Etzler leads you to revolutionary punk songs from the 80s and to well known spy novels from the 50s. And above all the artist uses a lot of – yes – silence.
