Anfang der 90er Jahre war die Galerie allgirls der Ort in Mitte, wo man die sunny side der Konzeptkunst sehen konnte, von peepshow-ähnlichen Altarbauten für 1000-Mark-Scheine bis hin zu Pornos in Braille-Schrift. Mittlerweile wurde geheiratet, Nachwuchs bekommen und viermal umgezogen. Trotzdem hat sich das Netzwerk von etwa 30 Künstlerinnen und Künstlern gehalten, auch bei der aktuellen Gruppenausstellung: von Astrid Küver stammen kecke Wollmützen als minimalistische Leinwandkalauer und superelegant als Aquarell getuschte Nagellackfläschchen; für den Weird-Folk-Faktor sorgt Gabriel Rossell Santillán, der per Wasserkocher eine Dampfwolke erzeugt, in die er ein Dia projeziert. Rolf Pilarski hat die Ungereimtheiten der Globalisierung fotografiert, und Dave Allen hat zarte Farbstudien auf Notenpapier gezeichnet – gleichmütig und ironisch. Ziemlich allgirls eben.”

In the early 1990ies the allgirls gallery in Mitte was the place where one could see the sunny side of conceptual art, from peep show like altars for 1000 Deutschmark bills to porno texts in braille. In the meantime there was a marriage, a birth and four times moving spaces. But the network consisting of about 30 artists – male and female – survived, as in the current group exhibition: from Astrid Küver are cheeky wolly hats posing on canvas and super elegant water colours of nail polish bottles; the weird folk factor is provided by Gabriel Rossell Santillán who with a water boiler creates a steamy cloud onto which he projects a slide. Rolf Pilarsky takes photos of the puzzles of globalization, and Dave Allen made tender color drawings on music paper – cool and ironic. Rather allgirls really.”
