Ausgangspunkt für die von plus minus 7 gemeinsam mit Sparwasser HQ und allgirls organisierte Dialogreihe Privat und geschäftlich – Neue Positionen aus Mexiko ist der kontinuierliche Fluss von Künstlern und Kuratoren zwischen Mexiko und Deutschland. In den vergangenen Jahren sind zunehmend lateinamerikanische Künstler temporär oder dauerhaft nach Berlin gezogen, während in diesem Jahr vor allem wichtige Veranstaltungen der internationalen Kunstszene die Aufmerksamkeit von Künstlern und Kuratoren aus Lateinamerika nach Deutschland lenken. Privat und geschäftlich ist ein Versuch, diese Dynamik und die kreativen Möglichkeiten, die sich aus dieser Tendenz ergeben, abzubilden.

Iván Edeza (*1967, Mexiko-Stadt) setzt in seinen Videos manipuliertes Found-Footage-Material und bearbeitete, eigene Dokumentarbilder ein, die durch eine minimalistische Ästhetik zu häufig irritierenden Ergebnissen führen. Edeza studierte an der Kunsthochschule „La Esmeralda” in Mexiko-Stadt und ist derzeit Stipendiat des Nationalen Kultur- und Kunstfonds (FONCA) im Programm Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte. 2002 erhielt er ein Aufenhaltsstipendium des FONCA für Bogotá, Kolumbien. Seine Arbeiten wurden u.a. in Ausstellungen in Mexiko, Montréal und New York gezeigt. 2002 Teilnahme an der Gruppenaussstellung Mexico City: An Exhibition about the Exchange Rates of Bodies and Values, KW Berlin, P.S. 1-Museum of Modern Art, New York; 2007 Einzelausstellung, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca.

Personal and business – New Positions from Mexico, organised by plus minus 7 in cooperation with Sparwasser HQ and allgirls, is inspired by the continuous flow of artists and curators between Mexico and Germany. In the past years, temporarily or permanently, more and more Latin-American artists moved to Berlin. This year important events in the international art scene focus the attention of Latin-American artists and curators especially on Germany. Personal and business – New Positions from Mexico is a series of dialogues intending to picture the dynamics and the resulting creative possibilities of this tendency.

Iván Edeza (*1967, Mexico City) uses manipulated found footage and altered own documental material in his video works which often leads to irritating results through minimalistic aesthetics. He studied at the Academy for Fine Arts „La Esmeralda” in Mexico City and holds a scholarship by the National Found of Culture and Arts (FONCA), programme Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, at present; 2002 FONCA scholarship for Bogotá, Colombia. His work has been shown in Mexico, Montréal and New York. 2002 participation at the group exhibition Mexico City: An Exhibition about the Exchange Rates of Bodies and Values, KW Berlin, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York; 2007 solo show, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca.
